Family Fun: Play Outdoors Together

We know you’ll have a great time exploring our extensive grounds and discovering our adventure playgrounds, and there’s plenty of time to play as well as making the most of our sporting facilities and entertainment programme.
There are several ways to keep the whole family entertained at Trabolgan, and we have activities that everyone will love. Whether you’re into climbing, adventure sports or swimming, we’ve got everything you need for the perfect family holiday and we can’t wait to see you when you visit us this year.
Our Favourite Outdoor Family Activities:
• Building a den. There’s nothing like a survival skills adventure day to get the family laughing together, and we know that children (and adults!) love the challenge of building a den together. You’ll need several large branches or sticks and a tarpaulin to create a roof – or a sheet if you aren’t threatened by rain clouds! You can experiment with different den designs and then huddle inside and enjoy a picnic, or cook up a campfire dinner outside the door.
• Camping. Camping is a great way to take a break from the modern lifestyle for a while, and you’ll make memories that will last forever. Buy or borrow some basic camping equipment and give it a go to see whether it works for your family. We know you’ll have a great time, even if you’re just camping in the garden. For a more luxurious camping experience, bring your touring caravan to Trabolgan and make the most of all of our facilities.
• Explore children’s play areas. Let’s face it, when children are happy, their parents will enjoy their holiday too. We’ve got some wonderful play areas for children, including a wooden wonderland, indoor Jungle Safari and eco-friendly playground, so there’s no need to worry about running out of things to do!
• Take a night hike. Walking at night is a huge adventure for children and it’s great to see the world from a different perspective. Wrap up warm and pack some snacks and drinks and head out to see how your favourite spots look at dusk or in darkness. Take some time to listen out for owls hooting and the sounds of the world around you, and discover what goes on when you’re usually asleep.
• Feed the birds. Most gardens are home to several species of birds, and putting out different types of bird food in different feeders can attract new visitors as well. You can make a bird spotting chart with your children, or cook up some delicious bird-friendly treats to entice lesser-spotted species to visit.
