  1. Fota Wildlife Park. Close to Trabolgan and perfect for families of all ages, Fota Wildlife Park is recognized as the most visited tourist attraction in Cork. With a huge array of free ranging animals, and many highly endangered species, this zoo is a whole new wildlife experience. 
  2. Spike Island. Explore the nearby Spike Island by boat, and find out about the history of the area, including the impressive fort. The tour guides on Spike Island are well renowned for their excellent historical knowledge, and this is a great way to interest the children in history while they’re having fun!
  3. St Fin Barre’s Cathedral. The area of Cork is steeped in fascinating history, and this nineteenth century cathedral is a fine example of local culture. You can take a tour or explore the architecture and stained glass windows for yourself, and enjoy the local area and gift shop, too.
  4. BlackRock Castle Observatory. Unique in the area, Blackrock castle is a beautiful example of historical architecture located on the banks of the River Lee. The observatory is interesting and educational, while the restaurant on site comes highly recommended by many satisfied customers!
  5. City Market. This is a great place to visit, which is famous for all the right reasons! Take your time to wander through the market hall and appreciate local delicacies, and enjoy the lively atmosphere of the area.
  6. Ballycotton Cliff Walk. Blow away the cobwebs with this spectacular cliff walk, close to Cork and with wonderful views across the bay. The walk is not accessible for buggies, but children of all ages should enjoy the experience and the lighthouse, too!
  7. Camden Fort Meagher. One of the best examples of a Classical Coastal Artillery Fort in the world, Camden Fort Meagher helped to defend Ireland’s coastline for almost 400 years. Everyone will love exploring this fantastic relic, open from June to September.
