Get Set For An Eggciting Easter Egg Hunt!

April 13, 2017

It’s that time of year again: spring is in the air and the Easter bunny is on his way! Here at Trabolgan Holiday Village, we think it’s hard to beat this season, and our new friend, Billy the Badger, can’t wait to welcome you when you join us for a family break this year.

Easter is a great opportunity to get together with your family, and the chocolate eggs are a super bonus, too! We’ve put together a quick guide to planning the perfect Easter Egg Hunt, so you can enjoy the day whether you’re at home or on holiday, and we hope you’ll have fun watching your little ones having a great time.

Plan The Perfect Easter Egg Hunt:

  1. Choose your eggs. The beauty of creating your own Easter Egg Hunt is that you can adapt it to suit the children taking part. If you have very small children, or would prefer not to give chocolate, you can hide small toys or gifts instead, or even small plastic eggs that can be traded for a prize. If you’re going for chocolate, choose the perfect size and number – and don’t forget that wrapped eggs will be easier to hide, especially outdoors!
  2. Create your clues. If you have a large number of children taking part in your Easter Egg hunt, such as at a party, you may wish to simply hide a number of eggs and watch them search. If you are creating a more involved event, however, you may wish to write clues so that your seekers can follow a trail to their treasure. For non-readers, you can create an exciting trail by drawing pictures that lead from one location to another to collect clues and, finally, the treasure.
  3. Focus on the finders. You can design your hunt for the children you are catering for, by hiding eggs for little ones at ground level, only partially hidden. If you are setting up a hunt for older ones, look up and find hiding places that will challenge them and their searching skills!
  4. Decorate baskets. It’s great fun if each child has their own basket, and these can be decorated beforehand for another fun Easter activity. You could make baskets from card, using an online template, or simply decorate small baskets with a selection of fresh flowers and small decorative chicks.

Don’t forget that chocolate is poisonous to dogs, so don’t hide eggs where they are likely to be found by furry friends. If you’re setting up a hunt on holiday, you may prefer to use a system of paper clues and hide the eggs inside your accommodation to avoid confusion when there are other people and animals nearby!
