What You Need To Know Before Your Family Holiday

January 16, 2018

Holidays can be the happiest times of the year, but they often involve a great deal of organisation and effort in the planning stages. Here at Trabolgan, we know you’ll have a wonderful time once you arrive with us, but we want to help ensure that your preparation runs smoothly too, so check out our top tips before you get started.

If you haven’t visited us at Trabolgan before, we know you’ll be impressed with the facilities and range of activities we offer. And if you’re a regular, we can’t wait to show off our new look! We’ve invested more than €2 million in upgrading and developing our holiday village, and we’re excited to announce a new covered plaza area and upgrades to several of our accommodation options this year.

Top Tips For Happy Holidays:

1. Write lists! Let’s face it, there are a lot of things to remember when you’re going on holiday. You will probably wake up in the night and realise you’ve forgotten something crucial, like the swimming costumes, so having a comprehensive list can be really helpful. Work out who will be sharing rooms in order to pack effectively, and check lists of what is included in your holiday accommodation to find out if you’ll need to pack towels or kitchen essentials, for example.

2. Check your paperwork. Many of the documents you need for a family holiday will now be stored online or in digital format, but you will still need to ensure that you have everything ready before you leave for your destination. Passports, travel tickets, visas, reservations and parking vouchers may all be necessary for your holiday, so take the time to prepare in advance.

3. Expect some stress. Holidays are meant to be relaxing, but to expect a completely stress-free experience is to set yourself up for failure. Travelling with children is not the easiest undertaking, so prepare yourself for plenty of food and rest stops along the way, and keep plenty of things on hand to entertain everyone on the journey.

4. Get everyone involved. You can’t please everyone all of the time, but getting every member of the family involved in the planning and preparation can really help to create a peaceful holiday experience. Once you’ve decided where and when you’re going, ask each child to choose an activity or experience, or to suggest ideas for meals to eat while you’re away. Feeling included will help to reduce complaints and make everyone feel valued. Win win!
