Fun Pool Games for Kids

Kids love swimming! Whether yours are mermaids in training or still wearing armbands, splashing around the pool is a wonderful way to burn off some energy and have great fun. Here at Trabolgan, we have something for everyone in our sub-tropical pool paradise, complete with waterslide, waves and toddler pool.
Pool games are a great way to get everyone playing together, and you can encourage a good night’s sleep for everyone when you get back to your luxury accommodation! Here are our favourite pool games – give them a try, and don’t forget to let us know about any we’ve missed!

Favourite Swimming Pool Games For Families:

1. Stuck in the pool. Just like ‘stuck in the mud’, stuck in the pool gets everyone involved and usually ends in laughter. You can choose a swimmer to be ‘it’, and he or she can tag others, who must freeze with their legs apart – you should always play this game at the shallow end! Players who haven’t been tagged can swim through the legs of those who have been frozen to free them. A good level of swimming is required for this game.
2. Catch. This old favourite can be a great way to get swimmers of all ages and abilities involved, and you can make adaptations to keep it interesting. Try balancing on pool noodles while you throw and catch the ball, or score points for how quickly the ball is reached and passed on. Even very little children can join in with this game, and it’s great for social skills and hand-eye coordination, too.
3. Underwater mime. This is a great way to encourage children to get underwater and can help those who are fearful about getting their heads or faces wet. In pairs or in a team, one person can mime an action, a word or a phrase underwater, while the others work out what they are saying. The first team or pair to work it out, wins!
4. Swimming races. Kids often love competitions, and swimming races can be a great chance for everyone to shine. Try having a speed race, an underwater race or a race with both hands behind your back, for example, and you’ll find that everyone has different talents and this is a great thing.
